March 2007
The beginning….
Somewhere in early to mid March 2007, your life starts inside mummy. A sperm from daddy and an egg from mummy met inside mummy, and the first cell of Kimi forms!
From then on, you started to grow from cell to cell, from tissue to tissue, to a form with organs.
April 2007- June 2007
And how did mummy find out that you are in me? I felt nauseous, couldn’t eat much, and my menses did not come. Checked with a pregnancy kit bought from watsons in early april. 2 blue lines appeared. And what emotions the news bring!
To all of us, the news came as a surprise! We didn’t expect it.
To me, it was quite confusing. I definitely felt happy. However, I had accepted a new arrangement in my job, and was planning to go for exams. Hence the arrival of you meant that career and exam has to take a step back first.
We went to see Dr Choo Wan Ling, the doctor who takes care of expecting mummies, in late april 2007. And the first photograph of you is taken! You looked just like a bean, with a heart beating.
We went to see her almost every month, to check if mummy and Kimi is doing ok.
In the first 3-4 months, mummy felt very nauseous. Couldn’t eat much. Vomitted occasionally. I even vomited during work. That was a terrible feeling.
But to see that my tummy is growing (which means you are growing) tells me that what I’ve experienced is worth it.
June 2007-July 2007
A more detailed ultrasound scan is done in 16th and 20th week. Daddy and mummy saw ur face, head, limbs, heart, tummy, and even to check if you are a girl or boy. Daddy was so nervous then, when checking out ur genitalia. And yes, you turned out to be a girl. Daddy called everyone to tell them that soon after!
I began to feel better subsequently. Eating more, gaining more weight. So far, blood tests, ultrasound tests have showed that you are very healthy.
August 2007
Mummy started to feel u kicking me in late august 2007. your kicks subsequently got much stronger. And that made me and daddy very happy, cos we know that you are a very active baby!
Oh yah, and do you wonder how your name comes about? Daddy loves F1 racing, and there’s a driver for Ferrari (ur daddy’s supporting team) called Kimi. It sounds nice, hence we chose it. Your Chinese name is still in process…
Three of us also went for a short trip in early august 07, to sentosa and Pasir Ris chalet, as mummy couldn’t travel on airplane or cruise. Pictures below. See mummy’s tummy: that’s you inside!
September 2007- October 2007
Plans to welcome you into the world also got into place. We went searching for a good hospital to deliver you. We went to shop for goods that u need when you arrive. We all look forward to you around! We got u a pram, a crib, a car seat, lots of clothes, towels and other necessities…..
Mummy and daddy also attended antenatal class to learn more about taking care of you, the process of labour, exercise techniques, and about breastfeeding…
We had to go to see Dr Choo every 2 weeks to check on you as the delivery day gets nearer….
